Alsico High Tech Internship

During my internship at Alsico High Tech, I conducted research on the optimisation of the be.clean collection, aiming to develop sustainable and circulair solutions for cleanroom garments. My research focused on three core strategies from the R-ladder: refurbish, repair and recycle, conducting hands-on projects such as CarryAll2Go and Easy2Repair.

Through literature review, laboratory testing and market analysis, I gained insight into the technical and sustainability challenges of cleanroom textiles. My internship resulted in concrete recommendations for Alsico, including improved designs, more efficient production processes and circulair economy strategies.

This experience deepened my technical knowledge, enhances my problem-solving skills and further fueled my passion for sustainable fashion.

However, due to confidential information, it will not be possible to look into my undergraduate thesis.

My professional identity

During my internship at Alsico High Tech, I had the opportunity to carry out a wide range of activities that significantly deepened my understanding of the textile sector and circulair economy. besides literature studies and market research, I also carried out hands-on work quch as testing in the laboratory, research in the ARX-collector and starting and completing innovative projects such as CarryAll2Go and Easy2Repair. I also had the opportunity to attend training courses, develop prototypes, perform quality checks and collaborate on CADCAM and other drawing programmes. These versatile tasks contributed greatly to a realistic and hands-on view of the production process at Alsico High Tech.

During this internship, I developed not only technical but also personal skills. For instance, I learned to appreciate punctuality and perseverance as crucial qualities within a professional working environment. In the beginning, I sometimes found it difficult to arrive on time, but gradually i managed to improve this and it only happened sporadically, usually due to unpredictable traffic. Dealing with quiet moments was also a learning process: instead of waiting, I learned to take initiative by preparing in advance or deepening my knowledge through extra research.

The experience at Alsico was extremely positive for me. The collegial, family atmosphere within the company made me feel at home very quickly. The innovative and sustainable projects perfectly to fully express my inquisitive nature. Thanks to my initiative and curiositiy, I was able to gain experiences beyond the original range of tasks.

After this exciting internship, I am looking forward to my next challenge: a second bachelor's degree in Mechelen, where I want to further develop my passion for technology within automotive mechanics. At the same time, I hope to find a job in my region that feels as inspiring and meaningful as my time at Alsico Group
